The first St. Alphonsus School — a one-room schoolhouse — was built in 1889.

St. Alphonsus Church and School are launching a yearlong celebration to note the parish’s 175th anniversary as well as the school’s 125th.

1889 was a busy year for construction in the St. Alphonsus community. Construction of the third church on the property was completed, as the 1889 keystone above the front doors shows. The schoolhouse was built and the first Harvest Home dinner was held — a September tradition that still holds through today.
