September is fast approaching and all of our music ministries will start their weekly practices soon.  Is this the year for you to join?  We especially need people for our Contemporary Ensemble Group and Adult Choir.

CONTEMPORARY ENSEMBLE GROUP: This is still in the formation process. We have a mix of guitars, keyboard, vocalists, and instruments! This group alternates serving at the 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday and the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday. We are still figuring out practice times.

ADULT CHOIR: This group practices on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. on the new (west) side of the church. The Adult Choir sings at the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays. It is the core group for the special liturgies that occur during the Christmas and Easter seasons, and the Sacramental Liturgies of Confirmation and First Communion.  Our first practice is Wednesday, Sept. 6.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR: Our Children’s Choir sings once a month beginning in October. We also sing for an Advent Program, the 4 p.m. Liturgy on Christmas Eve and the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Easter Sunday. Blessed Francis Seelos Academy students meet Thursdays at 8 a.m. in the school music classroom beginning Thursday, Aug. 31. CCD students practice on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in the church beginning Sept. 24. We welcome any child in Grades 1-8.

HANDBELL CHOIR: This group meets twice a month beginning in September on Sundays at 12:30 p.m. On average, we play once a month and also, like the Adult Choir, add to our celebration of Christmas, Easter, and Sacramental Liturgies. Practices are planned according to the choir members’ schedules.

INSTRUMENTS: Music Director Mary Heagy will work with ANYONE who wants to play an instrument for Liturgies at St. Alphonsus.
CANTORS: We have a wonderful cantor ministry.  Again, we welcome new cantors anytime!
PASSION PLAY:  We have auditions in mid-January and then begin practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the new (west) side of the church. We move to the Ryan Center as we get closer to the performance dates.
