IUP head women’s basketball coach Tom McConnell and player Lauren Wolosik will be the featured speakers on Thursday, June 28, at 6:40 p.m. at our Hoops for Life camp.

They will speak about how they saw God working in and through their team during a record-setting season that brought them all the way to the NCAA Division II Final Four. They also will show a video recap of the season.

Their talk at Hoops for Life, a four-day camp that teaches basketball and life skills to rising fifth through ninth graders, is open to the public.

The camp, led by Father Kevin, will be held June 25-28. The girls’ session is set for 5 to 6:30 p.m. and a boys’ session is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Ryan Center.

McConnell led the women’s basketball program to its best ever season in 2017-18. The Crimson Hawks finished with a 30-4 record, won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division regular season title, and advanced to the national semifinals of the Elite Eight, the furthest any IUP women’s basketball team has ever reached.

McConnell has been named the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year and the 2017-18 IUP Women’s Coach of the Year.

Wolosik, a graduate of North Catholic High School, was named to the PSAC 2018 all-league second team.
