Harvest Home Weekend volunteers gathered recently in the rectory to begin promoting the Sept. 7-9 event by stuffing roughly 1,500 envelopes with news about this St. Alphonsus tradition

Parishioners and school families will receive a letter from Father Kevin, a Harvest Home brochure and two packets of Bonanza Raffle tickets.

Every September, the St. Alphonsus family comes together to celebrate its Harvest Home tradition, which goes back to 1889 when local farmers donated their produce for a hearty meal that raised funds for St. Alphonsus Church and its new school.

We continue to raise funds for the parish and newly merged school – now called Blessed Francis Seelos Academy – through the Harvest Home tradition. In 2017, we raised $62,500 that was evenly divided between Seelos Academy and St. Alphonsus Parish.

Over time, festival activities and a 5K run/walk were added. This year we’re hoping for 500 runners and walkers to join us at the St. Alphonsus Harvest Home 5K Twilight Fun Run / Walk at North Park. We’re already taking registrations at tinyurl.com/HarvestHome5K. You can also find registration brochures in the church and parish office.

Our festival activities will include games, a Chinese Auction, Bonanza Raffle, Country Store, face painter, balloon twister and more.
