An Impressive Harvest Home Weekend

There is something special about a parish event that has such close and long-standing ties with an entire community, built upon tradition and integral to the lives of the people in that community.

St. Alphonsus has been a staple of the Wexford community since 1840 as a center for worship of God, religious and academic education, service to our neighbor, and much more.  The generational “passing of the torch” and success of the Harvest Home Dinner is a testament to our ancestors who came before us, and to all of you today.

Additionally, it is impressive when a community is flexible and open enough to eliminate, add, or amend facets of such an event for the betterment of the community. This is evident in the expansion of the dinner to now be known as the Harvest Home Weekend, inclusive of the 5K Fun Run/Walk, and the Saturday evening “games, burgers and dogs” preamble to the big dinner and festival on Sunday.

Blessed with wonderful weather, it was a fantastic weekend when we indeed came together as brothers and sisters in Christ to exercise and celebrate, to feast and reminisce, to support and serve!

Thank you to the countless volunteers who participated in the weekend, and to those who led the way, including  Jack White for heading up the 5K Fun Run/Walk, and to Rose Lechmanick, Pat Remy, and Sharon Winkler for heading up the dinner and festival committee.

I am blessed to be a member of the St. Alphonsus community, and I hope you feel the same way too.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Kevin
