From Our Pastor – Oct. 1, 2017 Bulletin Message
The Goal is God
A few good questions or thoughts to ponder when spending time in reflection on our lives include…
- What people and relationships with people help us grow closer to God? How much quality time do we spend with these people?
- What circumstances, events, and environments are best for our relationships, including our relationship with Jesus?
The better we position ourselves for holiness, the holier we will grow, given time and patience. And, we will “feel better” about ourselves because of our growth into the people we were created to be by our loving God.
Certainly, participation in and reception of the Eucharist and other sacraments is the center of this growth for us, and only good flows from the Eucharist and into events with people who can help us grow closer with each other and with God.
This coming week we are blessed to host Jim and Mary Towey for our next “Faith on Fire” event on Wednesday, October 4, at 6:30pm, and actor Casey Groves who wrote and acts out his play titled “Seelos: Doctor of Souls” on Saturday, October 7, at 7pm. More information on these events are included on pages 4 and 5.
If your goal is God, come on out and join us; bring friends and family members. All are welcome to these events during this historic week in the life of St. Alphonsus Church and Blessed Francis Seelos Academy!
Please check out the daily Mass schedule in the bulletin for this week: On Wednesday, October 4, we will still have the 9am Mass, but it will NOT be a school Mass. The school Mass for this week will be on Thursday, October 5, at 9am as we celebrate the feast day of Blessed Francis X. Seelos. Again, all are welcome.
Yours in Christ,
