From Our Pastor – Bulletin Message for Sept. 9, 2018
The Only Constant Is Change
While this weekend’s announcement about the interim Mass and confessions schedule has been anticipated for a while, it is a bit awkward that it comes during our Harvest Home Weekend, which is a huge celebration of community at St. Alphonsus and throughout Wexford.
This is something we had no control over, so we will carry on with the things we do control, beginning with our attitudes, always striving to have an “attitude of gratitude” for God’s presence in our lives as we come together this weekend to build community and kinship.
Please keep in mind a few things about the changes that will commence on October 15:
- Every pastor/administrator will evaluate — along with his “clergy team,” parish leaders (finance and pastoral councils), and through input from everyone in the parish — if this interim schedule indeed needs to be amended at some point in the future.
- The St. Alexis/St. Alphonsus parish grouping is slated to have only one priest by year 2025, which will again change the dynamics of parish life for this particular grouping.
As I mentioned at the end of each Mass this past weekend, I will do my best to cling to Jesus, and to walk with you as your pastor for these final weeks of my tenure here, which has been a gift.
May we have a fantastic Harvest Home Weekend, sharing in the love and relationship with Jesus Christ, and with each other as members of His Body.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Kevin C. Fazio
