On Mission Announcements
This Weekend

This Saturday, April 28 at the 5pm Mass I will disclose the On Mission for the Church Alive! information pertaining to St. Alphonsus Parish, and whatever assignment Bishop Zubik issues me on Thursday, April 26, to go into effect on October 15, 2018.

After the opening hymn, I will greet everyone, ask everyone to be seated, then reveal the news with a brief explanation.  This way, we will then be able to bring whatever thoughts, emotions, and feelings that we are experiencing individually and collectively to the altar during the ultimate prayer of the Mass. We should never hesitate to bring everything to Jesus, and trust that he will take care of the rest!

We will follow this pattern of the liturgy for every Mass this weekend.

After the 5pm Saturday Mass, please join us at the Ryan Center to welcome and listen to our special guest, Ms. Jacqueline Isaac, as she speaks on persecuted Christians in the Middle East, and what we can possibly do to help our brothers and sisters who encounter such tragedies in life.

When we scheduled Ms. Isaac’s visit, we did not have the definite date of the On Mission announcements.  We were only aware that they would come during the month of April.  Given her schedule, the Ryan Center schedule, parish and school schedules, this weekend worked out the best.  Regardless of whatever announcements are made at Mass, please consider supporting Ms. Isaac, and the folks at St. Alphonsus that helped bring her here, primarily Dick Heilman, Cindy Cusic Micco and Louis Bosco.

Next weekend, we celebrate First Holy Communions at the 5pm Saturday Mass, and at the 9:30am and 11:30am Sunday Masses.  As we have historically done, the first communicants and their families will be seated primarily on the old/east side of the church.  If you do not have any family member making their First Holy Communion this weekend, please consider sitting on the new/west side of the church out of consideration for those families and visitors.

I pray for all of you daily, and I thank you for all of your prayers as well.

Yours in Christ,
