On Mission Announcements Forthcoming

This is certainly a very unique and, for many of us, an uneasy time in the life of our diocese. While we are in the joyful Easter Season – with First Holy Communions, May Crownings, and Mother’s Day celebrations – we are also in the midst of the most extensive reorganization endeavor in our diocese’s history.

On Thursday, April 26, Bishop Zubik is scheduled to inform each priest and deacon of our diocese where he will be assigned in the On Mission for the Church Alive! reorganization. The changes will take effect on October 15, 2018.

Each priest then informs his parishioners at all weekend Masses, beginning with the vigil Mass on Saturday, April 28. Each priest also will announce his parish’s grouping. We have consistently been paired with St. Alexis in parish grouping scenarios. Other parishes will find themselves grouped with one or more parishes.

Many of you already know that these are very anxious and uncertain times for those of us whose lives are centered on Jesus Christ and his church. This isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last time in history, of such concern and decision-making. While this does not make things any easier, it does remind us that we are not alone, and that we too are a part of human and divine history.

Please continue to pray that the leadership of our diocese will be open to the movement and guidance of the Holy Spirit in discerning what is best for each faith community to which we belong and are called to serve.

I pray for all of you daily, and I thank you for all of your prayers as well.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Kevin C. Fazio
