From Father Zywan – Bulletin Message for March 31, 2019
Who Do We Resemble the Most?
Today’s Gospel gives us a powerful parable about God’s love. It’s the parable about the two sons. It’s not just about the return of the Prodigal son, because both sons are in need of the Father’s love. Which son are you to our heavenly Father? Don’t be afraid to learn from this teaching of Jesus and to more fully enter the mystery of God’s love.
Make Us Believers!
Join us for “Make Us Believers” – the passion play on Friday, April 5 at 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the Ryan Center, which is adjacent to Blessed Francis Seelos Academy. “Make Us Believers” is a musical journey that walks us from Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to his death and resurrection at Easter.
Many long hours have been dedicated to this production. It is truly worth seeing as part of your Lenten journey. There is no admission fee for this event; though freewill offerings are appreciated in helping to offset expenses. For more information please contact Mary Heagy at MusicDirector@SaintAlphonsusWexford.org or 724.538.5258.
Come Home – to Jesus
“The Light is On for You!” is an initiative of the Diocese of Pittsburgh to encourage Catholics who have been away from the sacraments for a period of time to avail themselves to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Going to confession is a wonderful opportunity to confess our sins and to welcome Jesus into our hearts and lives. This session will take place on Wednesday, April 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All are welcome, however keep in mind that only one Priest will be available at each church to hear confessions that night. Thank you.
Open The Gift!
Jesus has given us a tremendous gift of reconciliation in the Sacrament of Penance. He’s promised his love to us in all the sacraments. In this sacrament of healing, however, we experience a peace that this world cannot come close to! Have you shared in this gift recently? This is the perfect way to experience the fruits of Christ’s passion, death and resurrection before we actually celebrate Easter. There is still time and a number of great opportunities for you. Besides the weekly confession schedule which may be found on page 10, the Communal Penance Services will be celebrated on Thursday, April 11 at Saint Alexis and Monday, April 15 at Saint Alphonsus both beginning at 7:00 p.m. Multiple Confessors will be available both evenings.
Plan now to participate in and experience this gift that the Lord has given us – his Church. Like any gift given, we need to “open it” otherwise it remains just a package. Know the Giver’s goodness and come, be renewed!
