This year’s Fish Fry profit – $110,776 – was announced Sunday (April 22) at an appreciation picnic for volunteers hosted by Fish Fry Co-Chairs Frank McSorley and Mike Cuddy in Pine Community Park.

The profit is split 50/50 between St. Alphonsus Parish and Blessed Francis Seelos Academy.

The 2018 Fish Fry broke previous records – we served 13,870 dinners during Ash Wednesday (takeout only) and the seven Lenten Fridays. Of that amount, 8,471 were takeout dinners. We averaged 1,945 dinners a night — 780 dine-in and 1,165 takeout.

This year’s total profit is up 12 percent from last year’s $99,000.

For the second year, Fish Fry meals were delivered to homebound parishioners. This year the deliveries were expanded to shut-ins recommended to us by North Hills Community Outreach.

St. Alphonsus Men’s Fellowship organized the delivery of the meals.

Also, the Fish Fry set-up in the school was reconfigured this year to be more “user friendly” for our handicapped diners. The school lobby was transformed into a dining area and handicapped parking spots were designated directly in front of the school.

We thank EVERYONE who worked so hard this year to make the Fish Fry a success!
