Hundreds of gifts were collected for the 2017 Christmas in Appalachia drive.

Each year, St. Alphonsus parishioners, religious education students and Blessed Francis Seelos Academy families provide gifts for the Christmas Store at our sister mission in David, Kentucky, which serves about 400 individuals annually.

Over the years, St. Alphonsus has donated thousands of dollars worth of clothing, toys, household goods and funds in support of St. Vincent Mission’s Christmas Store, food pantry and emergency assistance fund.

The original connection to the mission was Benedictine Sister Kathleen Weigand, who is from the North Hills. The former director of the mission is now partially retired; she works part-time as a speaker / public relations representative.

Volunteers are needed to prepare tags, posters and collection boxes. Others are needed to transport collected gifts to the rectory garage during the two-week collection period and to pack up the gifts in preparation for delivery.
